x-rap

Description: SPECIES: Bass, Pike, Salmon, Trout, Walleye, Snook, Redfish & Tarpon
TECHNIQUE: Casting & Trolling
RECOMMENDED LINE:
RUNNING DEPTH: 3' - 5'

The X stands for Xtreme. This Rapala slashbait cuts, darts and slashes its way through the water. Intended for multiple species in both fresh and saltwater versions, with an internal long-cast system built into both.

The X-Rap is "all about the action" and it triggers strikes. It's the perfect size and three-dimensional shape of a minnow. Prominent scales and the lateral line on the fuselage capture and flash light like a beacon. It's a lure that is designed for aggressive fishing. The angler provides the action and defines the cadence, for maximum effectiveness. Slash one near your neighborhood brute. Dance the Flash Foil Teaser Tail in front of his nose and hang on tight there.

HOW TO FISH THE X-RAP

When fish are extremely active, use the hard "snap" retrieve. With your rod tip down, use a short snap, snap, pause retrieve to get the X-Rap to follow a narrow track right. When fish are suspended over deep water or to trigger shallow fish use the "sweep" retrieve. With the rod tip up, use a long sweep, sweep, pause retrieve for a wider track.

Pros: Excellent casting qualities and very realistic movement
Cons:

I have used this lure in saltwater only while spinning for European Sea Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax). The results have been very satisfactory, not only for the targetted bass but for other species as well.

Amongst the species I have caught with the X-Rap are leerfish, bluefish (tailor), silver scabbardfish and Mediterranean Barracuda.

Amazingly the lure has stood up very well to the sharp teeth and strong jaws of the last three species mentioned whereas other lures have been severely damaged by the same.

The X-Rap is a lure that I always have with me on my fishing trips.

Incidentally, my preferred colour scheme is the one of the smallest lure seen in the picture (here), the S-Silver.
